Gluten-Free Taco Filling

You can easily adjust this recipe to your preferred hotness level or skip ingredients that you or your kids don't care for.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or sausage, ground turkey, ground chicken or any combination of meat
  • 1 can gluten-free beans or refried beans (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper diced (optional)
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 TBSP water
  • 1 small sweet onion diced to 1/4” or 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 TBSP Mehl's Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour

Instructions

  1. Brown the meat in a large enough pan to hold about three quarts.

Drain any excessive fat when finished.

  2. Add the beans, jalapeño water, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, sweet basil, sugar and flour.

  3. Stir well and simmer for a half an hour to an hour, stirring occasionally to prevent any burning.

  4. Remove from heat and make your favorite style of taco!
